Under the general powers of the Comptroller of Water Rights (Comptroller) legislated by the Utilities Commision Act and Water Utilities Act, all regulated private water utilities (Utilities) are directed to suspend any customer disconnections, for matters other than safety, for a minimum of 90 days from the date of April 9, 2020. The minimum number of days may be extended at the discretion of the Comptroller.

Utilities are further directed to continue issuing bills to customers for water service as approved in their respective water tariffs. Rates are the only available source of revenue and are vital to the financial viability of water service providers.  As such, Utility customers should continue paying their bills and understand that they will ultimately be responsible for utility services accrued during this period.
